National Tourism Week Celebrations in Maryland

MTC is celebrating tourism week the grassroots way – give back and get dirty with us on May 13, 2009.  What is your Maryland business or organization doing in recognition of the 26th Annual National Travel and Tourism Week taking place May 9-17, 2009?

  1. Carroll County, Maryland, will be celebrating See America Week during a reception held at the newly reopened Cockey’s Tavern at 216 E. Main Street, Westminster. Cockey’s, owned by the Historical Society of Carroll County, is a shining example of the important relationship between preservation and Tourism. Citizens and visitors alike will be able to tour this historic building for generations to come. Cockey’s has been a part of our self-guided Ghost Walk with picture frames moving and ghosts clopping up the stairs. And, on May 11, 2009, the tourism industry of Carroll County will bring energy and good spirits to this local treasure as we celebrate National Tourism Week.

  2. The Washington County Commissioners have declared May 9-17 as Washington County Tourism Week, celebrating along with Maryland and the United States. Several events are taking place, including the 21st Annual National Pike Festival and Wagon Train May 15-17. See: for more information.
